Of course, we all know how the story goes, but how about those characters that weren't mentioned in the books? How will they affect the story? How will they interact with the canons? Born on the 31st of July 1980 to Lily and James Potter he was just a normal wizarding child. or so it seemed. however shortly before his birth a prophecy was made. the prophecy said: “the one with the power to vanquish the dark lord approaches… born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies… and the dark lord shall mark him as his equal, but he will have power the dark lord knows not… and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives… the one with the power to vanquish the dark lord will be born as the seventh month dies…” this was referring to Harry Potter who grew up in hiding with his mum and dad for a year until he found them. but they placed there trust in the wrong man. Voldemort found them then after entering there home he killed his father then his mother before trying to kill Harry. but he couldn’t kill that little boy. the curse backfired and Voldemort was ripped from his body. he fled leaving Harry Potter the only boy ever to have survived the killing curse and the boy who vanquished the dark lord Voldemort. he lived with his aunt and uncle not knowing about his magical ability until his letter came. now he’s about to re-join the magical world. at the mere age of eleven Harry Potter is about to join Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. so that’s his story up till now but strange things are happening at Hogwarts. I also find that people tend to always think their work is not that great, whether it is true or not. Most people seem to have a modest streak in them, or not even just knowing that boasting wouldn't really suit their needs, that they say others are better than them. Just something I noticed. Either way, to get good you have to spend the time and effort. Nothing is built up in a day. You can definitely tell you put some time and some work into it With me, I still think people make better graphics then me, but it also depends on the people looking at the skin.. Everyone has their favorite colors, or look of the site.. It is also good to like making graphics when your making them.. Seems people would be more determined to make them, instead of just giving up.. Canon or Non-Canon: A little of both. We use the plot as guidelines, but they're not rules. Brief Summary of Plot: We stay in the general lines of the seventh book, but we're a little bit of AU too. It's set in Harry's seventh year, and we've gotten to the point where the trio is out camping on their own. We need some canons, but originals are more then welcome! We are using the sixth book as canon and then making up the seventh year as we go, though we are including many elements from the seventh book into our main plot. Mini plots between members are not only encouraged but the norm. It is the last and final year, the year of trials and tribulations. Harry, Hermione, and Ron had returned to Hogwarts in hopes that they might remain, but shortly thereafter the Dark Lord and his followers took over the Ministry and created a totalitarian police state. Using the Imperius Curse Voldemort places the puppet leader Pius Thickenesse as the Minister of Magic, who does everything Voldemort says with a smile. Voldemort also order the taking over of Hogwarts, placing Severus Snape as Headmaster. Death Eaters openly roam the school grounds, patrolling and making sure that the students are behaving, and punishing those they believe are out of line. As the Trio fled the school to save their lives, the Muggle-born students were practically tortured by those who counted themselves as superior. The Order of the Phoenix seemingly does nothing to protect the students, who have no real means to protect themselves, concerned instead with the matters of the first move, and who will strike first. They prepare themselves for a battle that may or may not come, and in doing so do nothing in the present moment. Those at the Order don't even offer help to Harry, Ron or Hermione in their search for the Horcruxes, essentially leaving the fate of the war in the hands of those that the Order deemed long ago were merely children. Meanwhile, Harry, Ron, Hermione, and a number of others still at the school are doing all they can to prevent evil from taking over everything they have come to know, and life hangs in a delicate balance for everyone. The search for the Horcruxes is on, as is the quest to decipher the last message of Dumbledore, and to figure out exactly what the Hallows are, and what use they will be at the end of things, and if it will help or hinder. At the school Neville has begun anew Dumbledore's Army, gathering students who are dejected by the Order as mere children and not worthy enough to fight. There he teaches them the things he herself learned years ago, with the help of Ginny and Luna. Those three have become a new force at Hogwarts, filling the holes left by Harry et all. Consider next the darker forces, bubbling and rising to the brim of the Wizarding world. Voldemort is in control of the Ministry, Snape controls Hogwarts. Bellatrix is torturing those who disobey, killing some and simply maiming others. The vile Carrow twins 'teach' at Hogwarts, disciplining those who they deem unworthy and vying to please the Dark Lord as much as they can. Draco has become somewhat of a king at Hogwarts, doing as he pleases, taking his cronies with him and generally wrecking havoc. Evil has become a noted, formidable force that cannot be ignored even by those pretending to carry on. Those who aren't trying to prevent the end of the world from happening are struggling to get by, and barely making it. In this dark time, even the Muggles are starting to notice a change in the world, that things are growing darker, and colder. Will you fight when the time comes, and who will you stand by? Will you be a student, living your life at the school and watching as the war rages on, or will you be an adult, actively fighting on a side? Hallows and Horcruxes, which are you looking for, and why? The Goodies. That's right! While we are a Harry Potter forum, we do try to give it a twist of our own flavor. We have actual, interactive Quidditch games that students can participate in. A fully functional system of points and monies, ranging from graphic and writing competitions to actual jobs and stores where items can be purchased and used. Is the canon character you wanted to play taken? Come and challenge! We invite anyone who would like to try their hand at a character to do the very best for that character. Granted, the person currently playing that character has every right to defend themselves, but no one is considered 'off limits' from a challenge... not even staff members! If you aren't in the way to play a canon character all the time but sometimes get the urge to play Hermione every now and again, partake of our Polyjuice Portum, where all rules and characters are thrown aside so you can write to your heart's content. Want to play out what would happen if it were Harry and Hermione getting together instead of Harry and Ginny? Go for it! Want to see how strange things would be if Voldemort was a girl? Go for it! It's interesting to see how different people have set their boards up. Even if I'm just looking at the main page, it's interesting to see the different types of skins and how they all compare. Brief Summary of Plot: Forget "good always wins"; that's not always the case in real life nor is it here. In the year 2010, the wizarding world of the UK and Ireland finds itself immersed in a Death Eater run world where slavery is prevalent and blood status is everything. The Order of the Phoenix is for the most part dead, but under Damien Noland, a new Order rises up. Additionally, new resistance groups with various causes are attempting to fix some of the issues. Most notable is SAVIOR (Self-Affirmed Victors in Open Rebellion). When the wizarding world as you know it no longer exists, what will you do? Where do you stand? Imagine a world in which slavery is prominent, the power held by those in charge is abused, and every moment things are staggering on the brink of war. Imagine a world in which children are deprived an education because of their blood status or the actions of their parents, a world in which only the elite gain knowledge above status quo. Imagine a world when the unspeakable happens to innocents on a daily basis yet they have no voice to speak up against it and are even further tortured and made examples of for speaking out. Imagine a time when all hope of things ever getting better seems to have vanished along with those who fought for your freedom and a time when you feel powerless to do anything against so great a foe. This is the type of corruption and darkness the wizarding world of the United Kingdom has found itself thrown into over the past year. Freedom was gone faster than the blink of an eye. What Voldemort only dreamed of accomplishing has been accomplished and little seems possible to do about it. Trevor Williams and the other Death Eaters hold control over every action, and little goes on that is not reported back to him. Any possible rebellion is squashed almost as soon as it's concocted. The Imperium Guard sees to that. Hope is quickly vanishing. Yet despite it all Damien Noland hosts a safe house for all fugitives from Trevor's reign. His arms are open wide to any who truly hate what is going on and seek refuge and safety from the storm. The only problem is that it's hard to get word out, and things must be done in secret. Despite these hardships, the resistance grows daily, hoping to undermine Trevor and his regime. Nevertheless, the true question remains: how much will a people endure before they strike out? Hence, the joining. Have to say that I share the same view of RP-ing HP. It's definitely more the world than the characters that I am interested in. Hence, mine has no canons and doesn't follow DH. Much easier without the canons..especially since none of the prior sites attracted any, so I was stuck playing Voldemort and Ginny while waiting around for our intermittent Harrys or Dracos to post, lol. Originals provide more freedom, anyway, I believe. Anywho, I should get off to bed. 'tis 12:41, and I have choir at noon and then I have to come home, eat, and visit with my cousin and her kids, and then ballroom dance for an hour, and finally go straight to a band performance that starts at 7:30 p.m.. Yay for Phantom of the Opera (we even got the monkey.. >>), Nightmare Before Christmas, and Candide! They make the torture of flute notes (played on a clarinet) in the marches worth weathering.
